Our Sunday will be hot, humid and stormy…

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Hi, this is FOX10 News meteorologist Matt Barrentine.

We are starting our Sunday quietly, but showers and thunderstorms will start to develop later in the morning and then increase in the afternoon. As always, some of these storms could bring heavy rain and lots of lightning. Expect them to continue throughout the afternoon and relax as we head into the evening. Highs will be near 90.

At the beach, the surf remains calm and the risk of a rip current remains low. Unfortunately, the weather will be cloudy and there will be a few storms to dodge.

We follow several tropical waves. The largest is in the mid-Atlantic and has a 60% chance of developing as it heads towards the Bahamas next weekend. The other to watch is in the Caribbean and will head into the Yucatan of Mexico and could possibly bring rain to southern Texas. At this stage, it only has a 20% chance of developing. Models are keeping everything going with this one well south and west of us, but we’ll keep an eye on it.

Have a good Sunday!
