As part of its “MUZM” collection, a carefully curated selection of reissued styles with new interpretations infused with today’s innovative technology, Oakley is now set to bring back its iconic ’90s surf goggles, the Mumbo and Pro M Frame. Originally released over 25 years ago, the styles will be reintroduced as a bundle in a limited edition.
Worn by the biggest names in sport and lifestyle when they first launched, the sunglasses were the epitome of beach culture in the 90s. Not to mention, they were made with a advanced technology such as High Definition Optics® and a 3-point fit system.
“Oakley’s roots in California surf culture run through everything we do. This is no more evident than in the return of Mumbo and Pro M Frame. Each of these frames brought groundbreaking design features to the beaches and beyond, with unique styles that were unmistakably Oakley,” said Brian Takumi, Oakley vice president, Brand Soul and Creative. “With this re-release, Mumbo and Pro M Frame celebrate the brand’s heritage in surf culture while delivering updated designs to classic silhouettes for a look that combines style and function on and off the waves.”
Sage Erickson, Team Oakley athlete and global surfing icon, stars in the campaign for the reissue. “I’ve always looked up to ’90s surfing legends,” Erickson said. “Since my childhood, these icons and the culture of sport have shaped who I am today. These are the sunglasses worn by these icons, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to stand alongside this reissue as a as a member of the Oakley team.
The Mumbo and Pro M Frame have been prepared with technology enhancements such as Mumbo Hybrid® lenses and Pro M Frame Heater® lenses, both featuring PrizmTM technology for improved color and contrast. With Unobtainium® nose pads and temples that provide a non-slip grip and lightweight O MatterTM frame material.
The Mumbo and Pro M Frame MUZM Set in Neon Yellow with Prizm Road Lenses will be available at select Oakley stores on June 2 with a on line release and a wider in-store release scheduled for June 6.
