HICKORY – The 2022 Original Music Series Sails from the City of Hickory will feature The Wildmans on Friday, May 27. The free concert begins at 7 p.m. on Union Square in downtown Hickory.

The Wildmans come from the hills of Floyd, Virginia, the heart of the musical tradition of the Appalachian Mountains. From camping jamming at fiddling festivals and conventions and a college-level musical education, comes the foundation of musical exploration that sets this band apart, taking audiences on a musical journey that reflects the growth and passion of these musicians. talented.

“Young and fun. This up-and-coming neo-traditional string band sure knows how to make great music,” says Sails music coordinator Bob Sinclair.

The band have appeared on stages large and small, performing at festivals such as Red Wing Roots, Chantilly Farm’s Bluegrass and BBQ festival, Gray Fox Bluegrass, Floyd Fest and The Steep Canyon Rangers’ Mountain Song Festival. They also regularly represent young talent at regional fiddling conventions. The Sails Original music series continues next month with Reliably Bad on June 3 and Alexa Rose Band on June 17. After a hiatus over the summer, the musical series will return this fall with concerts every Friday in September.
