This National Dance Day, September 17, children can take an enchanting journey around the world to celebrate movement, music and the planet that lives within us.
“To Sail Around the Sun,” a children’s production from E Company, DC’s premier contemporary repertoire dance company, returns to the Kennedy Center Family Theater. Through dance, live music and storytelling, the performance takes the audience on a child’s journey to bring the four seasons together before dinnertime. The show travels under the spring waves of the Australian coast, through the summer tropical forests of Argentina, among the autumn leaves of Japan and in the winter snows of Kazakhstan.
Designed for families and children of all ages, the story unfolds through a compelling performance by the dancers of Compagnie E alongside the string quartet Sound Impact. All perfectly adapted to Antonio Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” with a duration of one hour, ideal for young audiences.
There will be two performances of “To Sail Around the Sun” on September 17, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 and are available for purchase on the Kennedy Center website.
